The 64 has some good titles. But yeah, a lot are blurry ass poop.

The controller wasn't that bad; you just have to pretend the D-pad part isn't there at all.

Which I guess means it was pretty bad.

Back in the day, it was the system pushing the NES out as the not current system... so we turned against it. I guess? Or we are just fucking retarded.

the biggest problem with the N64 is how poorly it delivered on the hype surrounding it. the fifth generation of consoles is home to some of the biggest losers of all time, with the playstation 1 (which isn't even that great) being the most passable of them all.

the N64 undelivered like crazy, plagued with a combo meal of muddy garbage early 3D graphics, horrible controls with no thanks to one of the most poorly designed controllers of all time and a really mixed bag of games, with the only reason most people even go back to it being first party Nintendo games they liked when htey were younger, almost all of which have been re-released on better consoles. it's only really fondly remembered by people who have nostalgia for it.

also the n64 gave way to mario party, one of the worst mario spin off franchises of all time.

I still have zero interest in N64. The only game I would have liked was Ocarina of Time and I had that on virtual console and hated it.

Mario Party 1 is good. Then they decided to make literally 13 more. Nintendo, stop. STOP NINTENDO.

That whole era (64/PS1/Saturn) was a tidal wave of games that look like total garbage. Remember, that era was 3D's first generation. 2D's first generation was the 2600 and no one likes that shit anymore. There are some parallels between 2D and 3D.

Speaking of which, remember when people didn't buy the Saturn because the 3D wasn't as good on the Saturn as it was on the PS1? LOL NO, THEY WERE BOTH FUCKING HORRID.

I am not going to go crazy defending the 64. Like any system, it has some good games. However, the library is smaller than most "big" systems (300 versus 700+) and there are really a lot less keepers out there. It was also the end of Nintendo third party support, as the vast majority of good games on a Nintendo console were primarily Nintendo published from this point forward.

When we paired down our collection, we only kept 50 N64 games... we kept twice as many SNES and even 30 more on the GameCube (aka The 64 Not As Ass Edition). I probably could prune 64 down by half too.

Nearly all of them. I only got rid of dopey variants like Wayne Gretzky Hockey and stuff like that. Damien actually ended up with my Gun.Smoke variant. I kept at least one of everything NES, including NTSC, PAL, Famicom, accessories and other bullshit.

NOT HUMBLE BRAG: Here's our current gameroom so you can see what we kept. Pics are a year old - we have a full amiibo set as of today (new ones come out this week, fuck you Nintendo)
