I just want to mention I met |tsr and not only was he mountain-like, he barely responded to anything I said or asked him. Mr Personality or Mr Excitement, we'll never know.

Sounds like he's even more of a turd in person.

I don't consider this pulling the curtain back or anything but I had a really nice but brief e-mail exchange with him in, Christ, 2003... And he was very helpful about my questions even though you could tell he wanted to be doing anything other than talking to some annoying NES newb by that point. I think this was just a brief fascination for him for a bit but then he moved on quickly and wanted to never look back

Man I can barely remember the #nes98 crowd.

Tom Lowrie, who funnily enough I remember his real name but not his handle. Lived in Maine, was a rapper.

Some Finnish guy named Toot_CRC who never said anything except if you baited him by calling him a Nazi collaborator, after which he will go off about how Finland basically just shot any foreigner who crossed their borders during WW2.

Lumaga and his brother: Matt & Gabe Flores. I remember Gabe being a dick, not much else.

Some guy named Dicksmoka. Who was appropriately enough an asshole.

Sqwirl was probably there too I don't remember.

On topic, as much as a lot of people don't want to admit it I'd have to call |tsr a founding father.

I still have some of Tom's mp3s on backup from when he and I used to talk a lot on AIM in those days. Tom ran disflux.net and he and I talked often since we kind of both ran similar websites (mine being gai-den.com). Tom went by the rapper name 'Tom the Terrorwrist' lmao

Dicksmoka was known as impo/mib81 and he was most known for chair.jpg which was just a picture of a dick. Also a big goatse lover. Founded a webzine thing called 'ColonD' in the early 2000s after the #nes98 days were done.

Gabe's irc handle was lilicarus and after #nes98 he hung out a lot in #nes2k with Nardito and crew on EFNet

And yeah SqwirlyQ was definitely around in #nes98 times

Also SteveX and his brother SephirothX. Steve made NEScript for mirc and then was sort of the host of the scene immediately post #nes98 on #retrogamers on DALnet. Lots of memories of spamming the midi command that'd force play included Nes game midis on anyone's client who was also running NEScript

Oh shit, I forgot all about SteveX. That guy taught me a lot about mIRC scripting. He was a real cool dude.

I used to talk to Gabe quite a bit over AIM about a whole lot of nothing.
