what is PRGE

It's the only other classic show worth a fart aside from Midwest Gaming Classic in WI and maybe Too Many Games in PA.

My take is it's a seller's market. So if you're looking to buy, stay away or you will be gouged like no tomorrow.

Somewhat related, do you gentlemen know if there are any of these expos in LA or San Diego at least? I wouldn't mind going to one, but definitely don't feel like traveling more than a couple hours at most.

I ain't there to buy, anyway. I'm there to just go on a trip, see some panels, and free-play arcade games.

A reasonable and level headed ambition. Fuck buying in this day and age.

I am expecting high prices. But people also say there are some deals to be seen at PRGE. Heard some stuff is dirt cheap there like it should be.

FYI, the high prices were in regards to Too Many Games, not PRGE. I have heard good things about PRGE. I actually went to a TMG and the highest price vendor was the guy running it. Not a good sign.

I bought a bunch of shit. some stuff was over priced and some stuff was cheap. It made no sense, really. The prices varied a ton between the vendors. One table you would see one game for dirt cheap, and another table would have the same game priced way high. NES games in limited quantity were cheaper than the popular mass produced NES games. Common shit like Mario and Zelda was $40, but games people don't give a shit about or recognize were $5.

I will answer your question with your question.

No, that isn't what I'm saying. I get that popular stuff can demand more money now, however back in the days, prices seemed to correlate with the rarity of the game a lot more. SMB and Zelda used to be $1, while Tengen tetris was $80 back in 1999. Now it's flipped. SMB and Zelda were $40-50, and then Tengen Tetris would also go for $50. The rarity of the game didn't matter at this convention as much as it did back when things were right with the world.

That's because rarity is and always has been total bullshit. This is proof.

It's always been about supply and demand.

Back in our day, the popular games were cheaper because demand was a lot less, so the abundant supply was abundanter.

Now, popular games are really popular and the supply, while still adequate, is closer to demand, so the price goes up.

Since the less popular games are still less popular, they haven't moved. However, when some youtube idiot gives us another HIDDERN GERM, it's no surprise the value of the game goes up because of increased demand.

Every rarity list is pointless - just use a price guide since that is fueled by actual data, as opposed to hearsay and speculation with little to no basis in reality.
