I've always been fascinated as an outsider looking in. We didn't own a PC until the mid-late 90s so I missed a lot of the stuff however playing Lemmings, MANHOLE, and Sam and Max on my friend's mac was really formative for me. computer games up until like Doom, seemed like games for adults and I really liked that.

Can't forget Oregon Trail at school and 1992 Winter Olympics

I still have not beaten Oregon Trail with the farmer. I got close once then hit a rock on the final river stage.

The DOS version of Lemmings is pretty damn good but has some awful copy protection that basically requires you to own a physical copy and play on a real PC as opposed to DOSBox.

Edsel I sorta lump the Windows Entertainment Pack stuff in with DOS gaming because they're from around the same time period even though they need Windows 3.x. Definitely agree that Chip's Challenge is a very good game. And Skifree. And JEZZBALL.

Man I haven't seen this in motion since probably 1990/1991. What a fever dream.

Some of my old favorites are:

Street Rod
Scorched Earth
Stunts
Commander Keen IV
Jazz Jackrabbit

and last but not least: "Yogho! Yogho! Spel". A platformer based which you could get for free with the yoghurt drink Yogho Yogho (the commercial for this drink were just plain bizarre).

Wow, Skyroads, I hadn't thought of that one in a long time. Remember Raptor: Call of the Shadows? My dad would actually play those two and he almost never played video games.

Raptor is another good one, although not quite as good as Tyrian. It's still being sold online somewhere, I remember buying it for like $5 last year.

I used to play HUGO'S HOUSE OF HORRORS and HUGO 2 on my uncle's computer and never get anywhere with either game but still had fun.

I like Doom.

Uh... thats about it for my experiences with any kind of PC gaming.

You need to play kings quest 6.

Old lamps for new.

OLD LAMPS FOR NEW

Also no mention of test-drive 1 through 3 and stunts aka 4dsports driving. Those were the pinicle of driving sims of the day. You Amiga folks can bash the dos games but to me they hold up extremely well.

Test-drive 2 the duel is by far the best out of all the games. Best cars best scenery, best hot babe cop at the end to arrest you for reckless driving

Also super ancient thread for some site that died a horrible death
