You didn't do it justice. Whatever, when I go back I'm gonna work towards getting that restaurant meat slicer or maybe that big ass cast iron cowboy/wild west statue. |

I forgot that I managed to go to a Dave & Buster's in Philly a few summers ago when I went to see 311 at the Festival Pier. We got there super early for the show so we figured we'd go down and check it out, have a drink or two, relax, whatever. They make you buy a fucking card to play games... the card costs $2 or whatever. You load up credits onto the card, but none of the games cost an even amount of credits. They're like 3.83939338489 credits for one play. Fucking asinine. I decided not to bother. After sitting at the bar for ten minutes and not being served we went to some bar down near the pier and ended up paying like $40 for 2 rum and cokes. What the fuck. We went back to D&B after the show to get in some air conditioning and hopefully get a drink. I managed to snag a beer. I actually considered getting a card to play games, but then I realized that there were a TON of fucking kids running around. I was exhausted, kinda drunk, and didn't feel like being at Dave & Buster's Babysitting service. On the way to the door we saw a baby in a carseat on a skee ball lane with no adults nearby. Told an employee, police were called... yeah. Fuck that shit. D&B is cancer. |

A lot of my favourite games were arcade ports on the genesis, like Ghouls and Ghosts and Forgotten Worlds. The former I spent some time marathoning to speed run it without losing a single life; I can still beat the game without using a single life but I don't think that I'll be the fastest guy any time soon. Neo Geo I think though is definitely the king of the arcades, the sports center here would have a Neo Geo multi game machine and it would have stuff like KOF98,99 and a couple different Metal Slugs and a puzzle game I really liked, When me and my friends would go swimming we'd end the day with some KOF or I'd play Metal slug and they'd watch and we'd compete to see who could get farthest. |

Mortal Kombat 2 mostly. Bump n Jump at the laundry mat. TMNT arcade game at a local bowling alley. On a side note, I want to turn my basement into an old school arcade... Only problem is all the cabinets I want are crazy expensive.. The Simpsons arcade, TMNT, etc. |

I'd love to have a couple cabinets but I have no place to put them but my dirty, drafty, ant and spider infested garage. I wouldn't mind a cockpit Roadblasters, 1943, Golden Axe, and maybe one or two more. |

Read my mind. Another set of memories is the arcade on Catalina Island having a pretty legit arcade way back when and RoadBlasters cockpit was there. I don't remember many other games, but I do know for a fact I spent more time playing that or wishing I was. Definitely high on my list of wants. Golden Axe is another game I'd really enjoy having too. In fact, most 'black box' era Genesis games would be pretty sweet to have. UPDATE: I decided to get the DK cocktail I mentioned earlier because I don't know what I'm doing with my life. I'm going to pick it up on Tuesday once this heavy ass rain lets up. I'll make sure to litter this topic with pics once I have it home |

Where I've lived arcades have been hard to come by for years, (lol the rural south, depressed economies) so that was the most cabs and pins I'd seen in one spot in years (that were actually working and running simultaneously). So yes that was a legit good time. In middle school there was a skating rink that was the social hot spot for kids and there were was an arcade section in the back but there was more of an emphasis on foosball, air hockey and pool. There was a Crystal Castles, Sly Spy, a Wrestlemania cab of some sort (it had Doink I think?) and a T2 machine. I really dug T2, but it was a frequent occurrence where the guns were jacked up from kids abusing them. Past that, the majority of my encounters with arcade machines were one or two isolated cabs loitering in the foyer of a grocery store or some other retail setting. Right now I have what used to be a Street Fighter II that was gutted and damaged, which I've slowly been restoring into a personal mame cabinet. Right next to it is my dad's Cybernaut pinball table. He is an electronics guru and I've learned a lot from him so we're able to maintain our toys pretty well I think. The mame cab's using a tube television (because they're easier to source than the actual monitors) but I have it rigged up with an extron emotia so the visuals are very crisp. I really should get to finishing that thing up, it just needs glass and a screen bezel... |

^ T2s are notorious for having busted uzis. Nearly impossible to find one now a days with them working correctly even in this resurgence of classic arcade games. Also you gotta post pics of the SF 2 MAME cab when you're done. I'm curious to see how it looks. Oh right, to follow up here's the Donkey Kong cocktail I ended up buying. Overall I'm extremely pleased with the purchase because the game is insane condition for being 36 years old. The control panel being stuck to the sides really isn't that big of a deal once you get used to it much to my surprise. The only issue it had was with the bearing joysticks being either very loose or extremely sticky. A lot of contact cleaner followed up with some 3 in 1 oil did the trick and they now feel as good as new. http://imgur.com/a/Fc6A2 -A few pics of the top and inside |
