River City Ransom: Underground was just released, and is basically an idie follow-up to RCR. However, I haven't heard much about it, and considering both RCR and Downtown Special Kunio-kun no Jidaigeki Dayou were so beloved in this community, I was wondering if any of you had any thoughts on it if you've played it: ![]() ![]()

I remember reading about it awhile back somewhere but haven't been keeping track of it. I also saw that Double Dragon 4 was released on Steam a few weeks ago or something. Fascinating. |

The trailer looked sick as fuck and really pumped me up. But then I remembered how shit marketing can be. Someone who has bought it and tell me how it is, or someone please buy it and inform. I want to buy this but I don't want to waste 16 bucks on a piece of shit "remake" |

Considering I heard bad things about Double Dragon 4, that's a wise move. |

Destructoid gave it an 8.5/10, looks like it's shaped up to be pretty decent. I scoped out some twitch streams of it the day after it was released, and while it's not really a "remake" so much as a reboot or successor, it seemed to have some pretty fun mechanics thrown into the game. So there's online co-op with it, so that's a plus. |

I caught a short LP on YouTube (don't really go on Twitch), and it looks like a lot of actual effort went into this, unlike Double Dragon 4 which just looks like a terrible fangame. It looks like a lot of fun. I'm probably going to buy it the next time I have time to play more than an hour. Thing you have to understand about Technos (yes, they still do this even after being purchased by Arc) is that they DO NOT whore out the Kunio franchise anywhere near as bad as they do the Double Dragon franchise, and really doesn't get involved with it very often. DD wasn't really big in Japan, so they pretty much just let whoever do whatever at a price. While this technically isn't a Kunio game (it takes place about 10 years after the Western RCR plot), this not only has Arc/Technos' blessing, but they were able to get staff from the original game to sort of steer it in the right direction. Granted, I haven't played it yet, but take a look at the first 10-30 minutes of it. It looks hard as hell, but insanely fun to play. I'm sold. |

I am very interested in potentially getting this, but I'm actually waiting for someone I know to buy this and give their thoughts. If this was under $10 I'd grab it in a heartbeat, but I'm too fucking lame with buying new games these days as it is. There seems to be some major issues with online coop thus far, but they're apparently patching them out fairly quickly. One of you glorious bastards has to bite the bullet and let us know how great/awful this game is already |

Same. At any rate with Persona 5 coming out in a few weeks I'll be occupied from then until the summer sale, when this hopefully goes 50% off or more. Then I'm definitely getting it.
