That one right there is the best Super Metroid hack there is. I highly recommend it for anyone who enjoys the original and Zero Mission. Really well done with some nice twists thrown in. Very good call. |

Haven't been playing much, was pretty addicted to Dominions 4 out of obligation to finish a couple games of it. (it's a good game, but it requires a lot of time and effort- too much if you ask me) I tried out that polterguy game because of the genesis tourney; it was pretty fun, but definitely not a game with much replay value. What I'd like to do is get a modchip for my PS2 and then play all of those games that I can't find, or are unwilling to shell out 50 bucks for a used copy or something; other than that I'll probably finish Wild Arms 3 which is a pretty good rpg. |

I've been meaning to pick up Wild Arms 3... I only ever played the original back in the day, and I had it downloaded on the PS3 when the wife and I got together and she ended up playing it to completion and enjoying it. I got her Wild Arms 2 on PSN and it was uh... kinda bad. The localization was god-awful, and the game was very slow paced compared to the first. I've read that part 3 is better... I need to get on that. ![]() I never ended up finishing Evermore or FF6, and Persona 5 hits tomorrow. I go to the dentist in the afternoon and we are getting our youngest kitty fixed, and when I get home P5 should be here. The kids are both grounded so that means uninterrupted PS4 time for Jon. Woooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooot! |

Star Wars (NES). Another game from my past that I've never beaten. Already got further than before. Edit: And Star Wars is done!

Persona 5 is hard, but fun. I've died a few times and I'm only on the first dungeon. Haven't been able to spend as much time with it as I'd like, but luckily it's all right to play in short bursts. |

I'm revisiting Starbound. Bought it on Steam months ago, and didn't get far. Controls are kind of weird. I find it weird that I don't care for Minecraft, but I like the knock-offs it spawned. |

So my bachelor week has begun. Here's what I've played so far: Little Mermaid (NES): Short, easy but good. Controls aren't perfect but still playable without a hitch. The power ups and secrets are surprisingly tough to get considering the ease of the game in general. Wonderboy III The Dragon's Trap: I'm just not seeing how this is the greatest game that everyone makes it out to be. The controls are slippery and the way you get knocked around when you're hit is obnoxious (Westone was smart to make it so you only took one hit even if you get bounced around). The game looks good and the music is mostly hit than miss, but... that's about it. I get the exploration jazz and all, but it's less involved than something like Goonies II. I was disappointed that the first form breathes fire shots, but all the rest of the forms just use the sword. If this was on the NES, it wouldn't be in the top 25 conversation. Definitely does not meet the hype. Conker's Bad Fur Day (N64): I played through this back in the day and I'm not really sure how I did. Maybe I was desperate for something to play, I dunno. Oh wait, it's by Rare, duh. The humor is mostly pretty forced but more importantly, the gameplay sucks and the camera is abysmal. The game is an utter chore for not a whole lot of payoff, and that's with them dropping lots of respawning health in every segment of the game. I managed to get through half the game, but I just couldn't do the rest. Today's menu will either be Bionic Commando or Ufouria, followed by Stubbs the Zombie, The Red Star or Pikmin 3. |

Eh, I've laughed out loud a few times and nothing has really made me cringe, dialogue-wise. Voice acting seems fine to me, too... though I may be in the minority that I rarely find much wrong with English dubs in general. Probably my favorite aspect of the characters in this installment is that your they are good at seeing what's in front of them so they don't spend a lot of time fumbling about while you, the player, know what's up. Persona 4 was good at this as well, though. I'm a little over a month into the game, progression-wise. Tackling the second big dungeon now, and it seems much easier than the first since I have more SP to go around. I forgot that the first areas of recent Persona titles were a bit grueling due to your low SP cap. I'd probably be a lot further if pesky real life stuff weren't in the way, but I'm enjoying myself quite a bit at this point. Conversing with demons to earn their trust (and use them as personas) is a lot more fun than just picking a card after a battle, and I'm glad they went back to it. My biggest gripe is that the mechanics when using stealth in the dungeons (which is pretty damn important for multiple reasons) are a bit wonky. I sometimes have a hard time zipping from cover to cover; I know where I want to go, but my character will either zip to another spot I can't even see or will just turn and face the other direction. It hasn't caused me to die yet, but it has cost me lots of SP and healing items when enemies have gotten the jump on me. So yeah, it's a great game. I guess I'm a little biased because I've loved Persona since the first installment on the PS1, but oh well. |

Bachelor week continues... Ufouria (NES): Now this is a really good game. Heresy I am sure, but this is how Wonderboy III should have been. A much wider open map, more diverse gameplay and a lot more fun. The game looks great and the music is trademark Sunsoft quality. Sure, using Gil's bombs sucks but a small mark on an otherwise good time. The Red Star (PS2): What is this? A 3d action game where you aren't required to do backflips like a spaz to protect yourself? I'm looking at you, Bayonetta and pretty much everything Platinum Games has made. Light on story, but who gives a shit? A fun beat 'em up/shooter/action game. A hyrbid that actually works. The many boss fights are really neat and a lot are bullet hell style, but, guess what, you don't need to be an autistic Korean to dodge everything. Glad XS Games rescued it from the ashes of Acclaim... the last real Acclaim game is... good? WTF. Either Bionic Commando or Goonies II next, followed by more than likely Pikmin 3. |

There's really no reason to ever use Gil, or Leon to a lesser extent, until you're required. That's probably the only complaint I have about Ufouria is that the characters aren't balanced enough. Bop is basically the go-to character for speed (and boss battles), while Shades is basically a hybrid of Luigi and Princess from SMB2 except his special is wicked OP against regular mobs. I'm one of the odd ducks that likes WonderBoy 3, but yeah... Ufouria is easily the better game, but I'm also biased as fuck. |
