I beat level 20 on hard once but it's tough. I do whatever I need to do to get that sweet, sweet Hip Tanaka music.

The intermission music is one of my favorite tunes on the console, and one of my favorite in general. The man is a genius.

Love the soundtrack and I agree about the "cut scenes"

I'm at level 16. I think I can do this thing.

beat minesweeper on easy and intermediate last night. abandoned expert halfway through on account of boredom.

I remember before I had internet access fiddling with random files on my old computer, and found the text file that held high scores for Minesweeper. Every entry became my name, with a time of 0:00. My friends were absolutely baffled how I could have finished rounds that fast.

Played some Battletoads & Double Dragon last night for the SNES. My cousins had it when I was a kid and I played it a lot way back when so I have a soft spot for it. I totally forgot that the controls are really fucked up (Y or A on the controller jumps, B or X attack), and wasted a life or two wondering why I couldn't fucking do what I wanted, haha. I also forgot how awesome the music from this game was... I remember way back when I discovered that you could download SPC files to listen to SNES music and play them with a Winamp plugin it was one of the first soundtracks I downloaded, along with Secret of Mana.

But yeah, made it to stage three before I got a game over and had to stop. Will probably work on it and see if I can get my groove back and beat it.

Also I've been playing a TON of Team Fortress 2 in casual mode and on a 24/7 Dustbowl community server that I found that has decent folks on it. I used to play Engy and Heavy exclusively, but I've been fucking with every class quite a bit, even Sniper and Spy (which I completely blow at). It's fun... I need better hats, though.

Started playing Battletoads.
At the moment I can make it to stage 7 which gets insane at the end  :o
And than it's probably getting worse later on

As a fellow NES game beating psychopath, I'm telling you right now that unless you're running on an emu, Battletoads is going to take a few weeks. The game is more about memorizing a long series of stupid traps in order than anything else.

It took me 3 weeks of playing in 2006 to comfortably memorize it enough to beat it. I don't even want to think about how many times I played through the first 10 levels. It's a doozy, but again, you'll see it's one big game of remembering where bs happens over actual skill.

I managed to et to stage 11 today.
So far I'm making progression with every playthough and so far it's indeed all about memorization.

Dang, that sounds about right. Its just funny that most of your deaths from that game come from platforming elements and unfair moments rather than brawling with enemies. What hard game are you going to go for next? I might join you if its a title I haven't beaten/played. Feeling kind of like I really want to go through with my teenage goal of beating all the infamously hard NES games again.

This is a list I've made a while ago with games I want to beat.
If there's a dat eebhind the title I've beaten it on that day.

Doesn't mean I won't play any games not on this list. Like Battletoads...

It's about time that I start playing Blaster Master though. So I guess that will be next.

So I'm still playing BOTW. I'm liking it a lot more now than when I started, in fact, I may even like it as much as the original Zelda... which is something I never thought I'd say about any of the 3D Zelda entries. There's always something to do depending on your mood. If you just want to chill, you can just explore aimlessly while picking up anything not bolted down to cook stuff to sell (I've yet to have a serious rupee shortage thanks to this business.) If I'm having a bad day, but don't want to go through the hassle of punching some random bum off the street to take out my unchecked aggressions on and having to go to jail, then there's a ton of monsters to beat into oblivion. Those blood moons are like Christmas for the homicidal maniac in me.

I may post more in the BOTW thread at some point, granted that it's not dead when I decide I have something interesting to actually post.

Aside from Zelda, I've been playing random demos from the e-Shop. There's one for Blaster Master Zero now. This game is actually a lot of fun and does a good job rebooting the original game, but the Joycons are terrible for this and any other kind of sidescroller. I'm going to want to get this eventually, as well as the WonderBoy III remake, but there's no way I'm playing either without a D-Pad. I was planning to get ARMS, but I may hold off on that since it makes more sense to get a Pro Controller first rather than a $60 game plus a second pair of Joycons needed to play ARMS with two players... plus finding a second player, because The Wife sure as hell will not want to play it.

There's really not much I want to play at the moment. I'm sure I'll get back to retro games once the next tournament comes around.

Intended to just play P5 for an hour or so last night and ended up playing from 11 p.m. to 7 a.m.

Oops.

99 hours in now, and I beat what I thought was the final dungeon (again) and it seems as though the game will continue after I wait for this guy's change of heart. Went through a crazy gauntlet of boss battles that lasted 3 or 4 hours on its own... it was intense. It definitely put all of my Persona/Megaten skills to great use, and was fun and challenging. I hope the end has such climactic battles.

We just got a hard drive for the PS4 yesterday (a 4 TB one), so no more juggling games! Yay! This will increase my desire to play some of the games I never got around to playing before the kids removed them from the system's memory. Woot!

Figuring out and memorizing stage 12 in Battletoads.

BTW, I don't understand what everybody's problem is with the Clinger Winger stage. OIMO, it's one of the easier levels in the game.

I felt the same way actually. I think it took me 2-3 lives to get to the boss initially. Maybe it has to do with display lag from LCDs these days?

Also word of warning: When you get to the Dark Queen and beat her, get to the left or right of the screen ASAP otherwise this will happen. This was from the first time I beat the game and got my camera ready to record the ending. Whoops.

I give you a ton of credit. For me this game is infuriating past level 1.

Seeing this thread reminds me that I need to fucking finish Persona 5.

Been depressed and haven't felt like gaming much for the last few weeks. I'm literally at the end of the fucking game, maybe a few hours left to go. Maybe I'll do that today.
