I picked up Transistor, and Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor, and SpeedRunners, and Duck Game so far. The latter two are for playing 4-player vs modes with some friends.

One person in my friend circle had an autistic meltdown over TeamSpeak (and subsequent ragequit) after not being able to win a single race in SpeedRunners. Great success.

Strangely there aren't many AAA titles that I'm even remotely interested in this go-around.

Have you guys picked anything up? Planning to?

I may get Pillars of Eternity... I've wanted to play it for a long time and this seems to be as low as it'll go.

Stick of Truth will probably get picked up as well, since the kids and I all have interest in it and haven't played it yet.

Honestly, I went bananas last summer and winter and haven't even really touched most of those titles, so that'll probably be it for me this go-round.

I haven't bought anything and I probably won't. RIP Flash Sales. They really should just do the sale for a weekend now. No point otherwise.

I grabbed Nex Machina last week. Not really part of the summer sale, but it is 20% off currently. If you like twin stick shooters like Smash TV or Robotron then this game is for you! I'm enjoying it immensely.

Grabbed River City Ransom Underground. It's pretty good.

I'm probably going to grab some more stuff on my birthday/anniversary. Probably just to stockpile.

are there a bunch of callbacks to the original or anything? or just a new game with similar mechanics and the IP?

It's a direct "10 years later" sequel to the westernized River City Ransom story (ignoring the "Kunio" continuity that Natsume has adopted for the River City games that they're publishing.) The intro is basically an easier version of the last part of RCR, fighting several of the bosses (not just the Twins and Simon/Slick) while serving as a tutorial. Also, you recruit aged versions of Alex and Ryan near the start of the game... but for some reason, Alex kind of sucks with Ryan being an absolute beast.

Abobo is also the principle of the new River City High in the "present day", which is either awesome or trying too hard depending on your mood. I'm hoping he's playable at some point.

Gameplay hasn't changed TOO much. You start out with four different fighters, with two optional ones that can be recruited at the starting area, with Alex and Ryan joining up after leaving that area. Instead of just scarfing down food and items to perma-boost stats, you're required to level up by defeating opponents which will increase the cap on those attributes which can be increased by eating or whatever (the spa makes a comeback, but it only recovers and increases max health.)

It feels like a proper sequel to River City Ransom, but it can be hard at some points if you're playing solo. Still, I like it more than any of the official "Kunio" games that came to the Super Famicom. They did a good job.

I bought Fallout 4, Playerunknowns battlegrounds, Unreal Gold (nostalgic game for me), Stardew Valley, and GTA V.

I've been waiting for a good deal on GTA V and FO4. A few good friends of mine from Korea play Playerunknown's and I was waiting for a sale, when it didn't materialize I just took the plunge anyway. Even though it is early access, I've heard from trustworthy sources that the content that is currently available is worth the price and the game is pretty polished. I saw Stardew Valley and even though it is not really my type of game, I need something single player that I can just kinda zone out on and it seemed good for that.

Super Hot was in the top three best games released last year so if you don't have that you're doing yourself a horrible disservice.

Great. A tiny bit of lag here and there, but nothing that won't ruin the game. I just got through playing with a friend of mine.

Good to hear, I remember around the time the game launched there were all kinds of bugs and issues with co-op play.
