BIG JERK
|
So the 30th was my birthday (and my wife's... and our anniversary), and a buddy of mine got me a $20 Steam gift card. That and I had already planned to buy some shit that day since my first big paycheck was being deposited. So I got more shit... - Cosmic Star Heroine: I was going to get this on PS4, but it was cheaper with the Steam sale, and my laptop runs it perfectly, so given the option to play in bed for a few bucks cheaper won. Really good J-style RPG. If you've played any of Zeboyd's past games, then you kind of have an idea of what to expect. It says it was inspired from Phantasy Star and Chrono Trigger, but it seems to really be it's own thing... for the better, to be honest. It's really good, far better than I Am Setsuna. The gameplay is a lot more original than the sources they cite, and the sci-fi setting is actually pretty neat. Get this one if you at some point in your life liked JRPGs, especially if you're just tired of the same regurgitated shit. - Fallout: New Vegas: I skipped this one last generation, and since my laptop can't run FO4 (I have it on PS4), I snagged this one to see what the fuss is all about. My first impression is that it's more than the same, but I know this game has a reputation for being better than FO3 (and depending on who you ask, FO4) so I'll probably give this one a more well-deserved shot later. - The Age Of Decadence: This one has a reputation of being one of those RPGs that tries to emulate traditional pen & paper RPGs to the T. I gave this one a couple of hours, and I can see this not being a game for everyone since combat will usually get you killed. I'll give it more points than Divinity: Original Sin since the NPCs that send you on quests don't tell you their life story beforehand, and I kind of like this style of game in small doses, but don't expect it to be an early Bioware game. - Umihara Kawase Shun: I remember enjoying this on SNES emulators, and for some reason I can't even pass the tutorial stage on this one. Apparently I've forgotten how to play this game. Just play the original, unless you're a real hardcore fan of that game. My opinion may change on this if I give it more time. - Phantom Brave: Skipped this during the PS2 era, but I liked Makai Kingdom, which was this game's successor. Visually, it hasn't aged well. Still a fun game. - VA-11 Hall A: Gave this a chance after seeing the review on Hardcore Gamer 101. I'm not disappointed, and visual novels usually bore me. But you'd be surprised how fun a cyberpunk bartending simulator can be. I also bought Ys: Oath of Felghana since it was insanely cheap. I haven't played it yet, that's on my to-do list today. But you either love or hate Ys, so yeah. |

BIG BUTT BABY

I bought this last year after reading the write-up on HG101 as well. Loved it. Really need to replay it to get some other endings sometime. |
