Of course they're doing this. At least we now know to hoard several for some nice eBay profit gains.

I'd say something about an N64 mini, but I don't think they would release a mini system with 5 games on it.

Really solid list of games...and Star Fox 2!! Holy shit!!!!

I have my nitpicks though. Donkey Kong Country 2 would be preferable to the original, I'd take Pilotwings over F-zero, where's Actraiser or Mystical Ninja? etc...

I own all the games on the NES Classic so I wasn't super interested in it, but I'm going to try to track this down on day one. Here's hoping they don't have the insane supply issues this time around.

This seems worth it to me for the RPGs alone, but I own over half of these on the virtual console already...

But it's small and would hook up to the TV in our bedroom nicely so the wife and I can play. Hm.

Probably won't be able to find one, anyway...

I'm honestly considering being a scumbag and buying one to flip for a profit.

Are you able to use controllers other than the NES styled ones? Considering they have four less buttons I can't imagine it working too well unless they're games that never use X/Y or the shoulder buttons.

I have every game that is coming out on it, including Starfox 2 on a repro.

I'm still going to get it.

I don't know why because not only will I never touch it, it's going to be a pain in the ass to get.

Nintendo really needs to get fucked at this point.

I would have found a way to include a Quintet game like Illusion of Gaia and Terranigma. Nintendo liked them enough in Europe to also have them in French, German, and Spanish. Soul Blazer could have had a Spanish translation but they got it in French and German around 1994.

Why do we get 2 Kirby games, but no Chrono Trigger? I don't understand why they've omitted this game. Hell if you Google 'SNES Games' Chrono Trigger is the second most popular title right behind Super Mario World.

I just don't get it.

Also Actraiser and NBA Jam would have been crucial additions as well. It's almost a joke about how Nintendo flirts with the retro market, but doesn't actually put real capital into making a legitimate product in regard to quality and availability. How easy would it be for them to turn out some console with prebuilt games and the ability to play actual cartridges as well. I mean, Sega did it. Granted the Sega systems like that were bottom of the barrel, but Nintendo definitely could do something special here instead of giving us the same table scraps for almost 20 years now.

They could even get cute and release something that plugs your cellphone into a device where you can use controllers to play it. Portable gaming with some retrofitted gimmick. I think the mobile market is pretty much ripe for Nintendo's domination if they go down this path.

I've said this elsewhere in a thread about the NES Classic but the bottom line is Nintendo hates to pay other companies for their licenses. Absolutely seethingly hates doing it.

NBA Jam is probably tangled up in about a dozen, hell, maybe a hundred thousand different copyright and trademark holdings. Actraiser not getting included doesn't make sense though since Square Enix should own it and I too consider it one of the major identities of the SNES. Chrono Trigger I guess Squeenix didn't feel was as marketable as Final Fantasy is for their brand. There's a billion Final Fantasy titles and one Chrono Trigger sequel that critically flopped.

Maybe it's just me but $80 seems a bit high for this thing. Also, if you look closely, the controller ports are just shallow moldings, which has me thinking the controllers are going to plug in somewhere else and have radically different plugs.

My take on Chrono Trigger is the opposite - I think it's seen as a game with a lot of perceived value that can be sold on it's own. Squeenix could throw the DS version of the game on the Switch with a few enhancements and they could easily sell it for 20 or 30 bucks. I love Secret of Mana, but CT is much more well loved nowadays. If they were going to include CT, it would be in SoM's spot.

Actraiser missing is weird, as well as the fact that there is no real puzzle game on the thing. Still, I'm really pumped for this.

^ Wholeheartedly agreed. There is as much if not more of a buzz around Chrono Trigger as there is for FF VI. It just makes no sense not to have it on there. It is rather odd that they've omitted a puzzle game considering they could very easily toss Tetris Attack or something else on there.

But I mean Actraiser and CT fall under the Square banner anyway so what would it hurt to add them? I mean if you're going by sales I know that Chrono Trigger was a top selling game for the SNES so there's no logic there. I get the point for NBA Jam, but I think they could very easily do the Tecmo Bowl treatment of renaming the entire roster and releasing that. Then again, this doesn't necessarily need a powerhouse lineup of games to sell because nostalgia pretty much has any non collector buyer already sold. I'm still shocked that it's going to have Star Fox 2.

I agree the price seems a bit steep, but hey, Nintendo knows they're going to sell them like crazy so why not go for broke?

If I could pick the 21 games I'd go

1. Super Mario world
2. Ken Griffey jr presents (wouldn't be a huge problem since they just need the license for the team names)
3. Act raiser
4. Zombies ate my neighbors
5. NBA jam (you'd have to scrub the names and teams probably)
6. Street fighter 2 turbo
7. Donkey kong country
8. Donkey kong country 2
9. Zelda
10. Super metroid
11. F-zero
12. Tetris attack
13. Super bomberman 2
14. Sunset riders
15. Chrono trigger
16. Secret of mana
17. Yoshi's island
18. R-type 3
19. Earthworm Jim
20. Sparkster
21. Super tennis
