I only collect Deadpool comics as far as comics go. Most comics are really bad. Hell, most Deadpool comics these days are really bad. But I have every comic and issue that has Deadpool as the headline character. So gotta keep that going. :\ Other than that, nothing really. I will stash bicentennial quarters whenever I find them, if that counts. Games make up the vast majority of my free time/hobby time. |

NES games were the only thing that struck up the urge to collect. It was the right price, right availability and the right amount of personal interest. I collected SNES games too for a bit, but SNES games never really hit that low price point that NES games did. They weren't quite as common either. And the prices got fucking insane. I heard that often the Super Famicom versions of these games are cheaper, but by the time I figured that out, the prices for those became outrageous as well. Still, I have about half the SNES games I do NES ones. I missed out on the PS1, so I thought it'd be fun to collect for that...but I gave up on it pretty quick. I have a lot of DVDs, but hell everyone who was around in the 2000s has a ton of DVDs. |

records and books (technical/historical stuff about computers or comedy-related literature andsuch). not sure if it counts as "collecting" if it's getting slowly consumed, but i've also been cultivating a mighty formidable liqour cabinet as of late |

Percy: I remember 12 years ago a buddy of mine went to Japan and brought me back a Chrono Trigger for SFC. I was floored and asked how much it cost and he told me it was around $10USD. No idea what it is now, but those were the days. Right now: I collect vintage synths. Currently I have about 10-15 or so, but that number is admittedly down since the market also went retarded recently (why is every vintage collectable market going squirrely seemingly at the same time) and I decided to cash in. Can't think of anything else I actively try to nab these days. I'm going to modify claw's question and add: "IF YOU HAD UNLIMITED MONEY, WHAT WOULD YOU COLLECT?!~" Well clawseph, that's a great question. If I had unlimited funds I'd probably start a collection of arcade cocktail tables because they get zero love and I have a soft spot for 'em. I'd also collect Boss music pedals, unusual guitars, and even more analog synths just because I'd also have unlimited room. |

I used to be a digital music snob and would collect obscure releases from specific genres of music through places like what.cd, waffles.fm, soulseek, genre blogs, etc. I stopped doing this when it became more popular for artists to put their EPs up on soundcloud, bandcamp, etc. I also used to collect big box PC games in the late 90s. But this was as much "collecting" as the NES Scene collected shit during the late 90s: It was just really fucking cheap bargain-bin shit nobody wanted, so I'd pick up a shelf-worth of games with a 20 from CompUSA. I ripped the games into bin/cue in the early 2000s, and used to run an fserve with them on #oldgames on EFNet. |

I have like 20 or 30 Kool-Aid packets of various flavors that are no longer being made. My absolute favorite was the invisible watermelon-kiwi but I gave my last one up to Portnoyd so he could replicate it for me. |

If I had unlimited money, you know that shitty ass furniture and potted plants down at the local mall? I’d collect those. |

Oh yeah, apparently a few years back, U.S. retro collectors went to the dirt cheap Japanese game shops, bought a ton of shit and brought it back here to sell at inflated prices. I saw some pics floating around of those amazing shops picked clean, and it was kind of depressing to be honest. Oh another thing I collect. I buy a lot of retro game mags. I was a huge into game mags as a kid and probably spent more time reading magazines than I did playing games. Originally, I started collecting to rebuild my huge collection of Nintendo Powers, Gamepros and EGMs that I threw out when I went to college in some sort of misguided attempt at growing up. Nowadays there's no real rhyme or reason to what I collect. I don't care if an issue is rare or whatever. It's mostly driven by me going "what was that awesome Nintendo Power issue with the Secret of Mana guide that is set up like the hero's journal?" or "hey I feel like reading some unprofessional unabashed fanboyism" and start looking up Gamefan issues on ebay. |

It's a half-assed collection but I want to get all 50 U.S. state license plates to fill up a side wall in my garage. I have 21 right now and it kind of lost steam. I was fortunate enough to get the bulk of that all at once for a great price from a Craigslist deal. I dunno, I need to finish it. |

I haven't been acquiring much of anything lately but I have some other stuff I like to find. I got a sizable vintage IBM PC collection and an assortment of old hardware. I rebuilt my family's first 386 and my uncle's old XT clone a while back as they were both damaged and in pieces. I like old movies on VHS. I got the original Star Wars movies first because the special editions are garbage but I'm trying to find more 80s movies. I haven't been to a flea market in a while, they usually have tons. , I used to buy cheap guitars and mod them into something respectable but I don't have the money or space anymore. I had a nice little pile of them at one point. My wife and I have a full collection of the old McDonald's Garfield mugs, and we happened to have grown up with the same set of Corelle plates and we're trying to rebuild the set. |
