I was intending to buy it then I just fell down a rabbit hole of watching different levels/bosses on YouTube and feel like I got my fix. I don't know, I'm sure it's fun, I just don't want to invest the time in another Mario game. |

I'm hearing good things, including "better than Zelda" which is some endorsement as far as I'm concerned. I might wait until Christmas though, for no other reason that I never can figure out what to ask my wife to get me. |

I got it and I started it. It's good so far, pretty standard Mario. The in-your-face waggle controls are obnoxious but mostly can be ignored. The first 2 areas were fun to explore and I was almost overwhelmed with how many Power Moons they throw at you to collect. More to come as I work through it. |

I haven't had much time with it but from what I can tell, it's the Super Mario 64 sequel that never came. After how awful Sunshine was, and what a departure Galaxy 1 and 2 were, Odyssey seems to more or less settle down with a super sized version of 64. Only big difference is there isn't an overworld, with portraits being replaced with planets. Waggle controls are annoying but as mentioned can be ignored. Music is strong. Graphics are strong. Game has a shitload of moons but you run into tons of them while exploring and experimenting in the world, which gives the game almost a sandbox feel. It's probably the best 3D Mario game, but I could see how it gets old. And it is better than Breath of the Wild but mostly because Breath of the Wild works against itself in a bunch of tedious ways, where as everything in Odyssey flows with the grain. |

it did. game sucks to full complete and the level design isn't as strong as Mario 64. still anything lower than an 8/10 would be a very incorrect score but, the magic of Odyssey wore off quicker for me than apparently everyone else on the internet. |

I'm still having fun with it but I'm going very slow. I don't leave a kingdom until I use up all the dickatoo's power moon name list. So I'm at about 250 moons with New Donk wrapped up. |

I got this yesterday and am loving it, there's something that's really right about playing a new Mario game on Christmas. Everything just flows so well. Finding Power Moons everywhere is a ton of fun. I'm breezing through it (about to wrap up New Donk City) but I'm looking forward to replaying the earlier worlds. Cappy is dumb as a character but the gimmick is fun. Great graphics and music too. The Forest Level theme is a fucking jam. |

I'm tempted. Seeing this on a lot of GOTY lists is pushing me. |

So I am essentially done with the game now. I ended up with 760 moons and satisfied with that. It's a fun game and definitely worth playing and highly recommended. The main storyline/game is good and the kingdoms are all really well designed. The cap mechanic is pretty well executed and really adds to a Mario game. However, the controls could be a little tighter (or Nintendo could buy wireless radios for the Joycons that don't eat shit) and collecting moons is undercut by there being so many of them, that no specific one has any weight to it. The "endgame" content (that being, after you finish the storyline) borders on pure chore and MMO type fetch quest tedium. They really should have cut out 100 or so moons and called it a day - the fact that they make you buy 116 moons from the store to cap out at 999 says something. The amount of moons available before you finish the storyline and the ones from the moon cubes are enough. Drop purchased moons, achievement stars, the 2 bonus kingdoms (which are just meat grinders and short anyway) and the idiot Cup races and make it 750, the end. Overall though, if you have a Switch, get it. If you don't have a Switch, this and Zelda Game Over Continue are truly enough to justify the purchase. |

Gat damn. Beat the main quest last night. I really didn’t go too far out of my way to get any additional moons other than the required ones to reach the new levels. I’m going to tap out after the mushroom kingdom. Port: you’re a stronger man than me. Personally I would have capped the number of moons to 450 or so. There’s way, way too much menial fetch shit that makes it feel like a job. God bless anyone who gets to 999. Great game though. |

I have like 524 moons and I still am enjoying getting them. The whole buy 116 moons from the stores seems like horseshit though. |
