I've been off work for a while thanks to some nasty bronchitis and gaming has been the one thing I can manage to do without wanting to die. Just figured I'd share what I'm playing with y'all.

I don't have access to my PS4 or PS3 any more, so it's mostly older shit. Anyways.

.hack//INFECTION (PS2) - I loved this series when it came out, though I never completed the third installment (so obviously I never played the fourth one). My cousin and I were reminiscing about RPGs we haven't played for a while and this one came up. He thought he had a copy of it, but it turns out I did (no idea where it came from), and he has the second and third ones. So the fourth may need to be purchased soon. I've put about 15 hours into it over 2 marathon sessions and I am enjoying it quite a bit. It's obviously aged poorly in some respects, but it does a good job of sucking me into the game world and the voice acting is pretty fucking good for a game from 2002. Might finish this one up tonight or tomorrow.

Castlevania Bloodlines (Genesis) - I remember renting this game when I was a kid and being fucking terrible at it. Playing it now, I'm still fucking terrible at it. But, it's fun, and some of the boss encounters remind me of Contra Hard Corps or Gunstar Heroes in the way they move and feel. I still think Super Castlevania IV is the better game, but this one ain't as bad as I remember. I just suck at it.

Dark Wizard (Sega CD) - Another game I rented as a kid and did not understand in the slightest. Even now it's kind of overwhelming and cumbersome, but I'm determined to see it through. I chose the sorceress chick in the beginning and seem to be doing OK... I've taken over a few castles and am getting some units promoted/leveled decently. This is another one that has aged poorly due to the amount of menus you have to slog through to perform things that should be simple/easy to do and the lack of guidance anywhere in the game itself, but if you look up a PDF of the manual it ain't too bad.

Also playing a lot of Hearthstone and Clash Royale on my phone. Good time wasters, and I have so much time invested in Hearthstone (been playing since beta) that it's hard to say goodbye to it even though it's not as fun as it was a few years ago.

Nothing right now other than a steady stream of Famicom games. I need to get back to Secret of Evermore whenever I get back to a long term title.

Haven't been playing many video games at all due to a recent BLESSED EVENT but I've found some time to get some PS4 fighting games in.

Dragon Ball FighterZ. Yeah, a Dragon Ball game that plays like a "real" fighting game was guaranteed to be a day 1 purchase for me. I consider myself pretty good at Street Fighter, but I struggle with the insanity of the Capcom Marvel games (especially since I'm a pad player), and this plays like one of them. To it's credit, they really simplified a lot of the gameplay. All the special moves are just quarter circle motions, and there's lots of shortcuts for advanced techniques. The netcode sucks and I'm having my ass handed to me against anyone who knows what they're doing but it's still a lot of fun.

Street Fighter V. Just got into this and doing pretty well with Zangief. I was pleasantly surprised to find out he was rated was low tier considering how well I'm doing with him.

Metal Gear Solid V. Finally wrapped this up - easily one of the best games I've played in the last few years. I even like it better than the new Zelda.

Really though, most of my free time that doesn't involve holding a baby while watching wrestling has been spent finalizing my home gym.

Finishing up .hack//INFECTION, Just need to do the bonus area and tie up a few loose ends (trading for items, finishing a few more random dungeons, etc.), then it's on to .hack//MUTATION.

Downloading Steam on this horrible fucking laptop and hoping I have a few games in my library that will run on this POS. We'll see.

Morrowind. Playing via tes3mp with a couple of friends on a public server with like 12-20 others at any given time

Street Fighter V. Friends started playing again after AE dropped, still fun to run sets on but haven't touched rank since

Link to the Past: Randomizer. v28, still fun though not playing as fervently as I used to

I played Riot Zone last night for 45 minutes to stress test a Turbo Duo I fixed up for a friend, and then tonight a half hour of Ghouls 'N Ghosts and McDonaldland on a Sega Genesis I added an s-video port to. I'm gonna add a stereo jack to the back tomorrow evening maybe.

Does anyone want a Sega Genesis with s-vid and rear stereo-out? It's my third Sega I don't really need it.

I’m bouncing around quite a bit. Winding down Mario odyssey. I have 296 moons and only get pulled back in for little sessions here and there when my son asks for help.

Oddly went back down a SF3 third strike rabbit hole in preparation for the upcoming anniversary collection. I wish Nintendo would get their ass in gear for this to be online day one.

Also tinkering around with Zelda 2 w/ cheats. Got an AVS finally and fully ready to admit I was completely wrong on my assumptions. It’s better than nes classic for many reasons.

Late to this thread but I'm bored and procrastinating at work

Legend of Zelda 2nd Quest and Zelda II are in progress on streams. Been a while since I played the first Zelda and I still love it, reminds me of grade school.

Spending waaaaaaaay too many hours playing Elite: Dangerous, but they fixed a ton of problems I had with the game when I quit briefly in 2015 and there's a new update coming out with even more positive changes. It's fun finding money exploits then buying your own personal starfleet.

I was trying to finish Fallout 4 again, but I was experimenting with a mod for it I was interested in and the stupid mod blew out all my save games for the base game. I really don't feel like suffering through the early game of that again.

Just re-played through Final Fantasy Legend and Final Fantasy Legend II on Game Boy, a couple of my favorite RPGs of all time. Wanted to start up FFL3 but my save battery is dead and I'm waiting for a replacement.

I mentioned this in the chat but I beat Zelda 2 with the imposed limitation of sticking to level 7 stats. Super rewarding and I honestly didn’t think it was possible to use thunder and “shield” and sure enough it worked and my magic was down to a pixel. I’ve said it before but the trail to the great palace is harder than the palace itself.

Glad to see Zelda II love here. The common sentiment on the Internet is that Zelda II is bad. These people are extremely wrong.

Still trying to play Dragon Ball FighterZ, but the servers are trash, so I'm going to let that sit awhile.

Fired up the Retropie and gave New Adventure Island on the TG-16 a spin. I'm not sure why - I kinda hate these games. I love the way NAI looks and sounds but it's brutally punishing in a way that I'm not sure I have the patience for nowadays. I ended up abusing save states.

Watching Edsel cry about Zelda 2 on stream last night inspired me to start it up again for the first time in a long while. Got through the second palace, forgot where to get the medicine haha... Need to go spelunking, I guess. Trying to do it all from memory, failing a bit.

Been playing some Ironsword as well. I still love this game despite all its flaws. I played the hell out of it as a kid and used to be able to beat it while getting all the secret treasure items that give you a boatload of points (which do nothing at all), and now I am lucky to make it to the final level. Usually die on the earth level.

Tried out Splatterhouse 3 on the Genesis because I vaguely remembered renting it and sucking at it as a kid. I still suck at it now, holy shit the time constraints are brutal. You really have to rush and know what's what to get through level 2 without your wife succumbing to the bore worm. Also those cutscenes are actually some of the scariest shit I've ever seen in a video game. Pretty gruesome pictures and descriptions for a 16-bit game, god damn.

I downloaded Mighty No. 9 on PSN because it was one of the free games this month and holy shit...it's so bad. Just completely uninspired and the characters never shut up.

I went and downloaded Mega Man Legacy 1 and 2 (which were conveniently on sale) to cleanse myself. Not exactly sure why I did this as I own most of these games already. Anyway...beat Mega Man 1 was night. Good game, but it comes off bad compared what came after...Really buggy and glitchy but it's pretty balanced between glitches that benefit you (pause trick) and ones that harm you (the terrible hit detection on those flying platforms). Still, a great game for 1987 standards, but just a good game as far as the entire series is concerned.

I wish I still had my PS4, PS3, and Vita. I miss all the freebies I got every month, even if some of them were bad.

Right now I'm trucking through Chrono Cross. I'm probably about 20% of the way through the game. I'm using the (BradyGames? Prima?) guide since my cousin owns it. I'm finding items and secrets that I've never gotten before, and recruiting a ton of characters I normally miss. Such a beautiful game... hopefully I get through it before I move onto something else completely.

Beat Gun.Smoke yesterday. Was going for a "normal gun only" play through but caved on level 5 and used the shotgun. :P

Other than that, been playing lots of Clash Royale on my phone. And I guess I gotta redownload Hearthstone soon since a new expansion is imminent and it looks pretty damn cool.
